on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 41 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 41 | I'm still trying to find decent tie rod ends that are not wobbled out. So I had this idea. Isn't the part that attaches to the back side of the spindle the same shape and attachment point on a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. So why not swap parts to a 1/2 ton type and use new style tie rod ends? Not going to haul anything any way. Ideas?

Here you will find tie rod repair kits and replacement tie rods for 1932 to 1959 trucks, 1/2 to 3/4 ton, https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/dept/Steering/cat/Tie+Rods.htmlJoe

The tie rods ends listed won't fit the 3/4 because the 3/4 requires a tapered stud at least that is what came out. If there is a way I'm up for it.

Yours may look tapered, but I bet they are not and any of the kits will work. If it like a modern piece with a true taper, someone has messed. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 41 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 41 | Ok. I will measure studs. Hopefully they will fit.

Apparently had never thought of it before. Just need to find the parts from a half ton. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 565 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 565 | 1/2 ton studs are straight, my 1957 3/4 ton had tapered studs. I don't know about your year.

The drag link studs are not tapered but both are different sizes. One is 5/8 and the other 3/4. I ordered from the Filling Station as they were the only place I could find them. | | |
