I'm still trying to find decent tie rod ends that are not wobbled out. So I had this idea. Isn't the part that attaches to the back side of the spindle the same shape and attachment point on a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. So why not swap parts to a 1/2 ton type and use new style tie rod ends? Not going to haul anything any way. Ideas?

Thanks

Not real sure what part you are looking for, is it the ball ends or the socket ends?

Here you will find tie rod repair kits and replacement tie rods for 1932 to 1959 trucks, 1/2 to 3/4 ton,

I can get the ball ends locally at Jim Carter's. I need the socket ends. The tie rods ends listed won't fit the 3/4 because the 3/4 requires a tapered stud at least that is what came out. If there is a way I'm up for it.

Thanks

All of the older trucks use a straight shaft ball end. Yours may look tapered, but I bet they are not and any of the kits will work. If it like a modern piece with a true taper, someone has messed.

Ok. I will measure studs. Hopefully they will fit.

Thanks

Hello! have you had a chance to change the tie rod ends, I've been wanting to do the same, changing to a half ton axle is what I'm considering doing myself, the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton measure the same.

I talked to a guy at Jim Carter's and he seemed to think it would work. Apparently had never thought of it before. Just need to find the parts from a half ton.

1/2 ton studs are straight, my 1957 3/4 ton had tapered studs.
I don't know about your year.

My '49 3/4 ton does have tapered studs. The drag link studs are not tapered but both are different sizes. One is 5/8 and the other 3/4. I ordered from the Filling Station as they were the only place I could find them.
