I have a 1960 261 in my '53 3100. It's pretty hot these days and I wonder how much value there is in closing the heater shut off valve to my recirculating heater. Does anyone bother with that in the summer and does it help? Thanks

Yes. It is a good idea. It will cut down on the heat in the cab. Be shure & put it in the 5/8 heater hose coming from the therm housing.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

If it overheats in the summer when you close the heater water valve, need more heat capacity. If it ever overheats when the valve is closed, open it to get a few more miles to water.

'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
