Has anyone rigged the original VR as a junction box or "Dummy", and if so, how? Thanks for your help!!!! | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | Take the cover off and look where the connections are between the 3 external terminals and start cutting all of the coil wires from the terminals and start bridging the terminals together until you have what you want. Pretty easy to figure out once you git the lid offen the pickle barrel, as they say. Carl

Anyone who would know what the correct VR is would be impressed but also be unimpressed with the alternator. Do you have the alt that looks like a generator? Mount it up and hide an extra ignition key in it. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 253 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 253 | [url=]Perfect place for a fuse block! It also sits low on the engine, pretty much unnoticeable, especially being black in color. The absence of the voltage regulator would stand out IMHO. carl

A bolt on the hood held the button down with the hood closed. When the hood was opened the radio antenna retracted so it wouldn't interfere with the hood. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 Sir Searchalot | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 | Oh, now I know what AD stands for. | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 592 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 592 | Blumarin, I left the voltage regulator as a dummy when I installed a 10SI alternator. I needed to install an alternator when I added A/C. I used the BAT terminal on the voltage regulator as a junction terminal for the battery connections and just don't have any wires connected to the other two terminals.
If you install a three wire alternator, this will give you a great place to attach the voltage sensing wire if you hook it up the way I did. My A/C power feed also is attached to this terminal.

The white wire that you see connected to the ignition resistor is the exciter wire from the alternator that needs the diode soldered to it. The BAT wire and the sensing wire from the alternator are both attached to the BAT terminal of the dummy voltage regulator. http://s844.photobucket.com/user/ma...2981_zps673417ae.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3Matt | | |
