It's time to start making plans, at least for the wife and I.
We will be there and Leo has said, he would also be there.
Hope John and Peggy can make it along with some of the other ODSS clan.
Jerry (Hot Rod Lincoln) has also been addicted from last year.
The Alderson's want to host a BBQ Thursday evening and is a private show in itself, that is worth attending.
Need to start thinking about the DIY Clinics.

This is just a start to the planning and more will follow.

September 9th, 10th and 11th. The weekend after Labor Day.
If you get there on the 8th, there will be some other activities that you may enjoy.
Coming from central Fla.
You will be glad you made the trip.
More info to follow latter.

Yes, it is a tad early. If you are coming up from FL, we may be able to meet you in-route. Just saying ...

As Grigg said in another post, let US get thru May ... then we'll move on June stuff.

Don is good to start getting info together. grin

I am also 90%. Are there camping sites on the grounds or a campground nearby?
I'll be bringing my motor home and my truck on a trailer.

Yes, we are really hoping to be there, too.

I think the camping area has expanded. Lots of people prefer to do that and stay on the grounds all night. They have folks "policing" so there's no worries about the vehicles that are parked there.

Stranger knows all the camping details since he and his boys have done it a few years now.

Great Ron
Hope you can make it again this year.
Just checked and Econo Lodge is $123.64 total for friday and saturday nights for Seniors/AARP.
Maybe we can get Mongo to check into it early.
Vicki and I prefer there, for the location.
It's just a place to bed down anyway.

Wayne, I just checked and it's over 1,200 miles for you.
John and Peggy will be close to that.
I don't remember how far it is for Leo.

The event is starting to be on peoples minds.

I plan on being there again. I am not driving my '51 again, instead I will trailer my COE. I am planning on staying at the Super 8, which is a short drive/walk to the show from there.

Giving some serious thought to a rode trip this year. Due to the severe case of "I hate being uncomfortable on road trips disorder" that I and Ms Kathy have, we would be hauling the '48 Burb. Are there provisions on the site for towing rigs to park away from the show area itself? What about in/out access for side trips in the Suburban? We have never brought a vehicle to a show this large before so just curious about the protocol. Do they charge for the tow rigs to enter the grounds?

Glad you are going to make the event, I enjoyed talking to you last year.
Hauling a COE 1200 miles could be interesting.

Martin
Glad you are thinking about attending.
I assume Ms Kathy is your wife, if not, please correct me.
It's not a guy thing, we don't just talk about trucks and cars.
My wife plans on this event every year and being a shy person, she has really made some good friends and has a great time.
And yes, there is parking on the grounds for trailers and tow rigs.

Funny: Just like the Homecoming, the Long Distance Team (LDT), are the first to plan on this trip.
More info to follow.

hey Martin, you gotta go, drive the 48 and enjoy the cruise,
even Cletis will tell you it is a whole lot better to drive your baby then haul it..

what Cletis said..In 2006 I towed my truck to the Midwest All-truck Nationals in Riverside, Mo. Where’s the adventure in that? Laid back, CD blasting, AC cooling, cruise control set, Powerstroke diesel purring. My buddy, Joker, was cruising right with me in his 1952 Chevy truck with the 235 purring, window down, straining to hear the CD over the highway noise, getting a trucker tan on one arm. And he had a bigger grin on his face than I did.

It's a lot of fun driving, but not fun being stranded. My panel has not let me down yet, except for running out of gas. I intend to come, likely with a passenger. Joker, you should come too, if at all possible...

Break downs are a concern but the guys at work are eager to come and get me, they have tow dollies and trailers.

You should do it again, It has gotten bigger over the years, at least for the Stovebolt group.
I'm really hoping John and Peg make it this year.

For those going across mid Missouri, I can be the rescue rig.
Phone numbers will be exchanged as we get closer to the event.
It's funny how if you are on the side of the road, with an old truck or car and the hood up.
Somebody will stop within 5 minutes, to give you a hand.

I'm thinking about it this year. I had a last minute change of plans last year and will certainly need a road trip come September.

Clyde the '37 won't be ready for a road trip that long by then, someday - just not this year. Now I need to decide if I trailer him or just come without him.

Does anyone have a venue name or address? Where is the show located? I'm trying to think through lodging while I am there.

All this talk of AARP discounts, you allow 'bolters under 50 to join you, right? smile

Justin, this link will help out.
There is one motel that most of us stay at but there are a couple options and they are close by. Check out the links you will see in this thread.

Glad you will try and make it and you will have a great time hanging with the group and the whole show.
We usually stay at the Econo lodge in north KC.
Last year it was already booked up two months in advance and did not have the after show get togethers like in the past. Hopefully Mongo will get something lined up soon for the LDT (long distance team)
As for Clyde, that is up to you. You will still be a big part of the activities weather you have an old truck or driving a Subaru.
Bring some pictures though.

Alvin
Thanks for jumping in here, it's that time of year when a lot is going on and I'm away from the puter for a few days at a time.
