Out of all the manuals & catalogs that are available. I cannot seem to find any data on the Engine Angle of a Advance Design engine. Is there anyone out there that may know where that data can be found? | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . The inline 6 has a 0* angle between cylinder bores, unlike the later V8's 😉 | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,146 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,146 | Engine Block angle or pitch from front to back. The front of engine block is higher than the rear. Or what is the angle or pitch from the front to back of the crank shaft. The front of the engine is the end of the engine where the fan is mounted. Or how much is the engine tilting down, from the front to the rear inside the frame? Assuming the frame is level.

If the rear part of the frame were level, the part under cab and bed, (not the front frame beside engine which slopes down.) The engine is tiled back 3.5* | | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 | It seems that I've read somewhere that when the vehicle is sitting on level ground the carburetor should be level. Is that correct?

I'm sure someone will correct me or explain it better. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 | Yes, I was just thinking that would be a good way to check that you have the engine at the correct angle. Just put a level on top of the carb or intake manifold. Just a thought.......

Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | Most carbs work best when they're level but there is still some leeway and depending on how the truck is loaded or not it may or may not have the carb surface on the manifold dead level when the truck is on level ground.
I like the original question if you're trying to put it back together as originally designed then reference the angle between top of the block (or oil pan rail and/or similar parallel surfaces) to the straight part of the frame rail.

I ask out of ignorance. Always assumed this took care of itself.
