Afternoon all, I have been away from this Forum for some months but I have a dumb question. I tried to find this topic in the search function but didn't have any luck. I am cleaning the old tail/stoplight from my 52 Chevy 6400. It seems to still be useable except for a cracked lens, I found what looks to be an identical light on my junk 52 parts truck. I found different markings on them however. Pictures below.
The one on the left was on the truck, it is marked "CAP O(?) D/Chicago U.S.A.

The right one is off the parts truck. It is marked "DO-RAY-D only. The lens off this light and the cracked one from my truck are marked: "TIGER-EY
HEXFLEX P 1254. DO-RAY LAMP CO Chicago U.S.A

I looked in Carter's catalog, they show this type of lamp as 54-55. Are these later lights that were stuck on these trucks at some point? Thanks

No one can tell me if these lamps are original to a 52 truck or are later? Thanks.

Do-Ray are Aftermarket lights. Chevrolet would have lights marked, GUIDE, CHEVLITE or CHEVRAY.

I've never heard of CAP-O, can't help there...

I dimly recall that I have "DURAY" on the stock taillamp and the NOS accessory dual rear side lamps on my Suburban.

Note JC's comments on lamp brands and DURAY.

Yeah, nobody tells it like Jim Carter. Very good writeup indeed!

I just went through installing new Stop-Ray's on my 1953 and wondered why the left tailight assembly is upside down. I thought it was an aftermarket screwup. Nope, GM did it!
