Water just sits in that trough so stuff rots. I dug all the old seam sealer out of there today. What do I need to do to keep that area rust free? Gimme a recipe for success. -David | | | | | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 235 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 235 | I am working on that section of my 60 stepside. I drilled all the spot welds and took the roof skin off so I could get to all the rust repaired. Then I put a good coat of POR on the inside. Now I have the roof welded back on and almost done grinding all the welds smooth. I was planing on puting on a coat or two of POR there as well to seal it up. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 734 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 734 | Wow, you're really goin' all out. I don't think I'm up for taking the roof off. This is my daily driver so I have to work a small section at a time. I can not drive it for a couple days at a time but, that's about it. -David | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 | I cleaned out the channel, then sealed it with "Heavy Dudy Drip Sealer" and painted over it. I also drilled some drain holes on both sides to keep water from accumulating.

At the time I could not afford to go down south and buy a rust free cab. So I had to work with what I got. Mine is far from a driver, but it is getting there. Por 15 is some tough stuff and should seal the seam up. | | |
