So I have an original radio in my 1953 and the knobs are very loos on the pot shafts. They are repro knobs and I'm wondering if that's the issue. I don't know where they came from. Got my repo radio knobs from Jim Carter truck parts. They were loose also. Inside the knobs are some small metal clips. I used a pick on the flat side of the knob hole and carefully bent the metal clip up toward the hole in the knob. That tightened the knob up on the shaft. Be careful not to break the plastic.

It will hold the knob on when it sets yet will allow you to pull the knob off if needed.
