Despite the rain on Thursday night and Friday, I think a great time was had by all. We had 26 trucks show up at one point or another, some great projects to work on, awesome food and as always, wonderful Stovebolt fellowship. Special thanks to John and Peggy for all they do, for opening up their farm to us and for hosting this great annual Homecoming event.
I will try and get some video uploaded to PB of the first run in the big green COE (poor bird) and some pictures too.
There were several folks that couldn't be there this weekend and you all were missed.
As always, I can't wait till next year!

I had a terrific time at the event this weekend! Thank you John and Peggy for all you created! This is truly the finest group of people that I have ever encountered in my life. I look forward to the next time we can get together. It might be all about the old iron but it would not be special without the great folks that make up the ODSS!!

Yup. Busy weekend with lots to do, see, and meet. Thanks to John, Peggy, Mario and his family for taking care of us. Looking forward to the next event.

I am honored to have attended and I'm even more honored that my family is accepted among the people who make this place special. My family and I have never stayed in an area more than a few years at a time; we are transits.... drifters.... Marine Corps "gypsies". In a way, we don't have a place that we can call home. This place and it's owners have welcomed us into their home and have opened their hearts, kitchen, and garages to us.

They have opened up their home, not just to my family but, to all of us. When we all come to visit, we are not just coming to visit Mr. John and Mrs. Peggy, we are all gathering as a family.

So, although they are humble and demand no special fanfare, I still want to say thank you. Thank you for creating this.... a place where people gather with the same interest, a place that brings out the goodness of others, a place that rekindles old friendships and makes new ones. A magical place that gives our young the memories of growing up with Stovebolts and gives the old the delight of yester-years.

What a weekend.

Homecoming to me is a must. It is a time when I can dive into things and take a mental break. Thank you for everyone who wheeled their truck into the garage. Making trucks run better is something I really enjoy.

Thank you to John and Peggy for creating this event. As we have seen over the years, the line of trucks gets longer each year.

I have to say my favorite part of the weekend was when Tim from NJ (56NJGMC) I think was smiling ear to ear with his truck once Grigg and I were done turning wrenches.

Can't wait until next year! Hopefully even less trailers will be arriving!

Thank you John and Peggy for hosting this event! I enjoyed it very much. And thank you Doug for letting me drive your '62! That was a great experience. I can't wait to get my 63 going. I might be able to bring it next year.

Just for the record.....I still have that GOOFY smile on my face now that I have a "NEW" 1956 GMC truck that will do 70mph on the highway with ease.... when I pulled that truck into the garage the engine sounded like 3 spoons caught in a garbage disposal.....after 20 minute with Sweet adjusting the timing and Grigg adjusting the valves it ran like a new truck....and what I appreciate the most was not the adjustments that were made but the sharing of the info on how to do it....the whole weekend was FANTASTIC...the friendship and generosity of the group...getting to drive other trucks and see improvements others had done to their trucks was just awesome.....In my own life ,when I start talking old truck most folks just go glassy eyed and tolerate the conversation ,and pray for it to end....but to spend a rainy weekend standing around in garages talking old trucks with like minded folks is pretty much the best way to spend time.I have put on 800 miles on my truck since sunday and have been reinvigorated to finish up the truck.Thanks again to Peggy and John for your hospitality , and to Sweet,Grigg,Aussie Tim,Jim Gary, Paul,Paul,Hambone,Mario,Leo,Mike B.,Tomas,and to all the others that attended ,thanks for a truly memorable week end..........NJ56GMC

Your description is just about perfect because that is what Homecoming is. I know other GABFests do other things. That short little cruise was fun and if we had better weather, we may have done a second. One thing for me is that the group is comfortable enough with one another that some can run off with each other ... and each others' trucks!

We may need to get a bumper sticker that says "70 mph grin" ... since now you and John have that!!!

Here we go, my GPS alarm goes off at 80 mph and it went off several times. But 77 in a one ton is pretty impressive!

Well, initially I was going to say 80 but since you are not suppose to be going that fast around these parts, I thought I would at least make it somewhat REASONABLE!
