hello all,

it seems i have purchased a real rust bucket. as i have been tearing it down i have found rust holes in the frame rail vertical section as well as the cross member directly below back of cab/start of bed and some heavy pitting in areas on the horizontal.

the end goal is a semi original daily driver, 228 or 302(if budget allows) t5, slightly lowered otherwise stock

so what is the difference in frame years and easiest swap regarding cab/fender/bed mounts. i was thinking maybe 50? up to take advantage of tubular shocks???

aside from front motor mount are the chevys compatible

You are correct on the motor mount/crossmember difference. The '50 and up will get you the tubular shocks which allow easier maintenance and ride. What are you doing with your fuel tank? Will it remain on the frame? If so save all the parts as they are hard to source and expensive.

yea brad will probably keep the tank in frame. found some info on the other site. sounds like it will be a pretty "easy" swap if i happen to go the chevy route.

The front crossmember/mount can be swapped out. The cab mounts will also be different.
