Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 38 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 38 | I have a problem with both of the running board splash aprons on my 1951 3600. The bracket at the rear of both has broken off. It is the bracket that was bonded to the apron on one end, and has a hole in the other end for bolting onto the truck. I have both of the brackets, but they look as though they were originally bonded to the apron with something. Does anyone know what that bonding method was or recommendations for bonding? Any advice on the exact location of these brackets when reattaching them? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 A teacher, but always an apprentice. | | A teacher, but always an apprentice. I think that the little tab was spot welded onto the apron. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,275 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,275 | They were spot welded on.

How good do y'all feel about JBWeld in this case? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,275 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,275 | I would be more confident with panel adhesive for this application. There is a lot of flex going on in this area, which is why those spotwelds often fail. You have nothing to lose by trying the J-B weld, however. Carl

How good do y'all feel about JBWeld in this case? If I recall when I took my rear fenders off, the tab spot weld wouldn't have been visible, but I may be wrong. If it were me, I would fab up a longer tab and use the panel adhesive that Caso recommended and give it more to attach to.

That flange would not show. It might even work to rivet the pieces on. You will have to buy a full tube and only use less than an ounce. You could probably buy 2 brand new splash panels and have them painted to match your truck for what you will spend on the panel adhesive kit.
