.....and that is recommend a product sold by Harbor Freight. I saw a post by a club member over on the VCCA site about an ultrasonic cleaner be bought from Harbor Freight. He's used it for a while and had no issues.

I've shopped for a cleaner for some time and found those large enough to do any good are quite expensive. The one from HF holds 2.5 liters of solution which is huge for an ultrasonic cleaner. It won't do a crankshaft but it'll clean small parts really well.

Mine arrived yesterday and we've already used it a number of times with great success. For many items you don't even need to add a soap or other cleaner, just water. I put clean water in it, turned it on then dipped my watch bracelet into the water & the crud just exploded out of the nooks & crannies like a fog.

With a 20% coupon you can get this one for just over $60 plus shipping which is really cheap. For the money I highly recommend this cleaner.

Hmm. That looks a little like my clock radio. That would be good if it could clean small parts. Think of the money you can save on Q-tips.

The wife ran some of her jewelry through it using just water and loved the result. They claim it'll clean glasses but I've read that any coating on plastic lenses is at risk if you do.

I wonder if you can use vinegar in it then? Do you have to use their special ultrasonic cleaning powder? Hmm ... I bet it is just a mix of vinegar and maybe borax or something like that.

Gosh, it would be great to take out the bottom part of the blender (we have a very old blender) and run it around. I have a doozie of a time cleaning that. Hence, we haven't used it in about five years - it's waaaay back on the top shelf of the pantry. Ain't no "smoothies" happening here.

Will a 1 bb carb fit if you do it in stages (throttle bottle, middle section, airhorn)?

It says to not use flammable or corrosive liquids. I'd think vinegar would be OK. The tank is stainless but I'm not sure of the quality of stainless. Almost any cleaning solution should work. I was surprised at the job just water did so a bit of dish soap would probably work wonders. grin

I would try a carb though you'd likely have to do it half at a time. The tank looks to be large enough to lay the carb on it's side & get most of it in the solution. Run a clean cycle on one side then flip it over & run another. The size of the tank is ~9.75"Lx5.75"Wx2.75"D.
