I used to know where I could find them a few years ago.. I had a bad motorcycle crash a year ago, and can't find the upholstery kit for the 47-53 suburban seat.. Is it Jim carter?? Can someone post the link??

Jim Carter used to sell them. He does not list them now, but I might not be able to find them - his search feature is odd.

I'd check the truck shops online catalog.

I typed in the part numbers from Jim Carters old catalog and it shows all seat upholstery out of stock or on back order.
upholstery part numbers
it wouldn't hurt to call Jim carters and ask some questions.

JC's seat covers are made by someone in his area (at least that was the case 2 years ago when his upholstery supplier made me a full set for my 1954 Chevrolet Suburban). I think that person has been supplying upholstery sets to JC for many years. The upholster was very nice to work with.

The set I had originally bought from JC (in 2003) was the wrong color-combination for a 1954 Suburban - it was a 1953 set (all maroon), which is different from the 1947-52 color and the 1954-55st colors (maroon & gray).

Also, the set he sold me in 2003 did not fit the spring dimensions in my Suburban. I seems the sizes of the cushions/springs changed some time between 1947 and 1954. JC (kindly) let me talk with his seamstress regarding making a correct set of patterns for my seats (and the correct colors). I ordered through JC and paid JC.

The set I have now are beautiful in fit and appearance (I had original covers to compare-to for some cushions).

Note: JC's installation kit does not contain matching numbers & types of layers of "cushioning" material. His kits do not provide sufficient padding.

Tim, you are correct about Jim using a local upholstery shop. Jim supplies them with the materials. I'm wondering if they ran out of material and waiting for shipment. His upholstery shop had to alter the fitment of my back cushion on my jump seat and the lower cushion of my middle seat.
When I installed his kits on my cushions.I purchased extra jute and put it on all my upper cushions as well.

Tim

Also, they will start making bench seat cushion frames with springs
