I pulled the 235 (not original engine, going to the machine shop for a redo) and transmission (4 speed with the very slow first gear). There is a whine in the transmission upon deceleration that I believe is due to both front and rear bearing on the mainshaft having significant wear, and plan to replace them. (The synchro rings look good)

Who is the MFG of this transmission? I don't have a clue, but it says GM with various numbers all over it. It's a '52 or ? Any help is appreciated.

I will get the bearings (New Departure) from my local parts store, they have been great at tracking down what I need. Thanks. TO

Muncie Synchro Mesh 420. Novak is a good source for parts. And the manual is a good source for instructions. And just below in this forum is this gem: https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread..._Synchro_Mesh_Overhaul_M.html#Post979141
