The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop faux paint

I am thinking of painting my '39 to look like an original 66 year old truck complete with surface rust on the hood and roof. I would like to use a very low sheen paint which will still preserve the steel and faux paint in some rust, fading, primer bleed through etc. I want a low maintenance finish. Anybody ever try this? I thought I'd play with this idea and later down the road put a decent paint job on. I also want to put my company logo on the doors with very faded lettering. Any imput would be appreciated.

I know it can be done but I don't know how. I saw a Ford coupe done that way at a show.

We had this discussion a while back and there may be something in the archives that may be helpfull. I saw an article in an issue of street rodder magazine in which they did this to an early F**d pickup and they showed the whole process in detail, very cool.I believe in the following issue the also showed how the lettering was done. I cannot find the issues but i believe i posted the month in one of the previos threads...........Good luck Dale

I am not sure about the rust spots but they aged the lettering in the magazine with some pretty fine sand paper.
Maybe it is on the magazine website?

hahaha... This is exactly opposite of what I want to do!!!
It is this kind of stuff that makes the world go round and round....
