Hey all,

Ive searched and couldn't find a thread that talked about everything necessary to remove the cab. I guess its different for everyone depending on what stage of disassembly they are in but heres where i am at...

Removed:
Entire front clip
Engine
Trans
Driveline
Rear End (for other reasons)
Steering wheel/column/box
Seat
Gas Tank

I guess my question is, should i just undo the 4 cab bolts, give it a little lift with the engine hoist (my chosen method of removal) and see whats hanging it up?

Any help is appreciated.

Here are a couple things I didn't see mentioned. E-brake, wiring, and doors (heavy). Check those, remove the bolts and come up slow, good luck.

Don't forget the pedals(clutch and brake as well as the gas pedal) Remove the shifter(four speed) and the linkage(three speed) and just for giggles, the hoses to the heater if it is in the truck. I like to drain and remove the gas tank and the seat that stuff adds up.There is the steering column to worry about. If the bed is off and you have enough lift you can get around that. If the bed is on..then pull the steering box and wheel and pull out the bottom. It is all one piece. Getting the cab off is a project.

Thanks Brad and Steve! I forgot to mention the bed is off as well. However the advice from you both were super helpful.

Things went really great considering it was a one man show and the cab is now on a pallet with casters!

Brad I used your method of removal but if you saw it you would have shaken your head in disappointment I just strapped around the bottom of the cab as far apart as the door openings would allow and started lifting. It was pretty interesting once the entire cab started leaning forward due to the weight of the dash and firewall.

All's well that ends well I guess!
