The exhaust system for my 41 1/2 ton came with a spring, does anyone know where it goes (or if it belongs on this model at all)? Thanks Scott

I have a 41 also and if it's a round spring about 1 inch diameter it goes on the manifold. On the underside of the manifold there two little rods that stick out the side of the square part of the manifold. The spring goes on those. Hopefully that makes sense, put in a picture. If that's not the spring your talking about and I'm assume we're talking stock exaust, I dunno of any othe springs on it.

This is a pull spring that looks the same as the one used on the clutch and brake pedal return. scott

BTW, this was originally on a 1942 GI G506.

Paul, the new spring I received is the same diameter but shorter. My original head pipe has that same clamp and I assumed that it may play a part in this. What is that, a wire hanger coming off the frame rail? Thanks Scott

Yes the small wire "hanger" just seems to extend the length of the spring. It can easily be fabricated from a section of spring steel.

You must be nearly done with your project. Have you driven it yet?

Yes I have driven it up the street and back a couple of times. I am in the process of insuring and registering it and waiting on tires. Thanks for the info. Scott
