Does anyone have a picture of what the "bend" should look like under the side cover for the copper oil supply line?

Thanks!
Keith

I just made one up for my 1940 216. I didn't end up with the perfect bends as per instructions but I got the job done. Coming out of the block, it has to go up to avoid the indentations in the lower part of the cover. then it goes across and after curving it goes up through the dedicated hole in the head.

Have you got the GM instructions?

My engine has the copper oil pipe going between the #4 and #5 cylinders. Also-the side cover is taller-it goes all the way up to the bottom of the valve cover?

Here's what I am looking at.

All USA-built 216 had the "tall" side covers.

Later-year Canadian-built 216s (1950-53?) had short side covers.

That is exactly what I was describing.

Tim, I think it was 50 to 52.

I don't have a photo but it's just a bit of an S bend to allow the head & block to grow & shrink without stressing the line. I wouldn't worry about "correct appearance". No judge is going to pull your side cover.
