Evening all!

In the process of trying to satisfy my infactuation with these giant chunks of iron, I have decided to to do some tinkering.

I'm in the process of playing with a full pressure 235 I picked up that's going in my 1951 Coupe Rat Rod.

Its heading to the machine shop to get balanced, then decking the block and cleaning up the head. Were shooting to get the compression up some. Drilling and tapping for full flow filtration, and making a PCV system to keep her clean inside. I picked up some Fenton split headers second hand. Modified a 250 HEI for use. I'm also installing a bulldog camshaft, and cleaning up the ports some. I'm ordering a Weber 38dges after a lengthy discussion with their tech experts, who were amazing.

Im going to mate it to a T5 trans with a 3.55 rear gear. Should be a great cruiser.

One thing im annoyed with is the money they ask for an intake for these things. I refuse to pay 300+ for an intake that takes less metal and machine work than most V8 intakes, which cost less.

I'm TIG/Machine/CAD/Laser saavy, so I have decided to play with one of 4 factory intakes I have laying around to see if I can make this Weber fit it without a restrictive adapter. Some machining, etc. and make it fit like it belongs. After studying the ports on these engines (tiny) I don't at this point see a definite advantage to alot of these aftermarket intakes (clifford to name one) with the giant open inside. I'm thinking a modified and lightly ported stocker would provide great velocity and bottom end torque.

All that said, i'm wondering if any of you Weber folks may have a 32/36 or 38/38 carb, or base gasket laying around that may be able to get me the dimensions, OD is the biggest concern.

Can anyone help?

Also, if there is interest, I can do a build thread and log the entire build.

Thanks!

Ryan

Check out ebay. There should be plenty of Weber stuff there. OTOH if you know of a stock vehicle with a 32/36 you can search RockAuto.

I have a dealer account with worldpac, who is Redline Weber, so I get great deals that way. And great tech support for the tuning process.

I never thought of the 32-36 on factory applications, Ill search that right now. I need that dimension to proceed with my witchery.....

Thanks!

I don't know where you would put a "Build Thread" on a car in a truck forum. Maybe the powers that be will grant you a pardon.

If it's just an engine rebuild thread I doubt anyone will care but it sounded like a whole rat rod coupe project was being proposed. That wouldn't fly very high very long...

Go to "Classic Inlines" website.
They sell adapters for the 32/36.
I'm using two of these on a modified stock intake on a 302 GMC.
Minimal machining on the big 302 manifold.
The 235 intake is much smaller.
Maybe fabricate your own?

Certainly just the engine project itself. I personally dont care a lick about the car itself, but it was free....

I would do a truck not if the family could fit in it.

I have a pipe dream of buying a couple 2 tons and making a crew cab out of the pair and use a box from a half ton. I already have a 2008 F550 front frame clip and rear axle for the driveline sitting on a pallet. That will be at a later time, and will not be stovebolt powered.

Do a search on youtube for dual card 235, theres a fellow that posted a few vids of his home made dual carb intake out of a couple stock intake parts.

I have a 235 presently sitting on my run stand, awaiting swap, that's got the 3/4 cam, dual Fentons exhausts, dual Fenton intake w/dual Carter/Webber 32's. They came OEM on some small Ford imports (Escort I believe) and had a Mototcraft part number.

Runs great on the run stand, the 216 it's supposed to replace just wont die grin

Vendors like Langdon's Stovebolt and Clifford's both sell these so have some info on their sites but pricey. I used the 5200 Holley-Webers on my 46 with great results. These came on Ford Pintos in early 70, but Langdon's no longer stocks these. The base gasket should be cheap and available at Napa etc. Also search for these on Jeep sites and also used as replacements on lots of other cars. Several places stock adaptors for your one brl manifold. Also watch this link re. a '57 235 running what you are looking for. http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148305 Best of luck

I am running a 32/36 on my stock 235 with a Langdon adapter, seems to work great. Had a problem with the choke it had a water choke on it and I went with a electric one. It keep flooding out and I could not figure out want was wrong. Long store short, the electric choke spring was wound the opposite the water choke, so turn around now everything OK. root
