Anybody ever fit an AD battery cover in the drivers floor for better access to the master cyl. after swapping to the dual master cylinder on a 47-53 AD?

Been thinking of doing that, but never checked out the possibility.

Someone already moved my battery to the firewall, poorly, so I really don't need the door. I could cut the hole for the door from a patch panel or cut it from the existing floor.

Just thinking ahead here. Wonder if I would have to put the battery back under the floor to add A/C someday?

For a/c you'll have to move the battery....but I have not done that yet.

For my dual m/c I cut an oblong hole to get the m/c cap off. To cover it I cut a piece of sheet metal and screwed it over the hole with two self tapping screws. With the jute and rubber floor mat no one knows but me...... and ya'll now!!

If you have the parts I see no reason you can't use a batter box cover. I just like to keep it simple.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Well for future AC, if I do the cover for the driver side, I'll get a spare and leave the battery under the floor.

That is where the area in question is located. Two problems to be aware of, but not insurmountable. You have to remove a little bit of meat off of the bottom floor support and also you have to figure out how to share real estate with the trans cover since they are so close. Offered to give you an idea how that large of a cover would look and where it would be located.

What you did there is probably a better idea. I guess the cover wouldn't be removed very often anyway.

I'm just about to start mine. Brilliant idea Deve, never thought how close to the trans cover it is.

I only saw the 2nd picture of the door when I looked the second time.

Very nice. Did you make the door or is it something someone offers?

Brothers Truck Parts has it in their catalog. Stainless steel with locking mechanism. Very nice piece and perfect for that application. Lots more pics in the Site Picture Archive at devestechnet.com.
