I have seen 3836848 heads and I have one, but I have not seen a 8886848. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | He is just reading the 3 as an 8. Casting numbers sometimes can be hard to read.

He said it was fluxed and good. Be careful buying these on E-bay, not everybody is honest in their descriptions.

It sure looks like the first and third digits are symmetrical. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I do not know if this may be a Canadian head, but all the casting marks are in the wrong place for a US production head.

All the heads that I have seen the casting numbers were on the outside of the valve cover not the inside. It is in California so who knows where it came from. Just saw it listed and was wondering about the number so I thought I would ask.

He replied that he was wrong, and the correct number was 3836848 and he was sorry for the confusion. So there is the answer. Thanks for the replies. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 | What's that come to, about $100 per horsepower? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 A teacher, but always an apprentice. | | A teacher, but always an apprentice.
