I'm wondering if the welt cord goes on the rear fenders originally ? I did put it in the front but not sure on the rear fenders .

There was no fender welt between rear fenders and bed on any 47-55 pick-up truck.

There was fender welt between rear fenders and body on all panel body trucks.

Yes, front fenders only on the AD pickups.

Fender welting on the back fenders will hide poorly fitting fenders/bedsides, and few people will know that it isn't "correct".
I will bet the fitment issues between the cab and fenders is exactly why welting was used on the front fenders.

Just guessing

If the truck was used as a truck welting on the bed fenders would be a good crud trap.

With or without welting between bed and rear fenders, the gap between them would be a good crud trap.

I plan to use a strip or two of 30# roofing tar-paper between rear fenders and bed (as long as that paper does not "show").

Nonetheless, it is your truck - use what you want/like.
