Do you need a test driver to make sure it will run and drive ok? If so, just ship that bad boy up here to Va and I will make sure everything is ok to use. I want to make sure you are safe P.S There is only one thing wrong with this your truck, it is not a GMC!!!!!!

It would last the longest without cracking if you sealed all 6 edges before installation. Now that it is all test fitted, you might still want to do that?

I thought that I should attempt to install it to get the right fit and to drill nec. holes before finishing the bed completley. Im glad I did too, because there was alot of putting down and taking up and resetting bolts and what not involved. I may have scratched a freshly varnished board had I not. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 1,184 Red dot, center of chest ... | | Red dot, center of chest ... It was what they call a Rolling Restoration. I did most of the body work(which wasnt too bad because I had a good truck to start out with) and my old father in law helped with the engine and drive line. We bought a rebuilt 1954 Chev 1/2 ton 235.
JJ, The wheels are in fact newer model wheels. The hub caps do not fit onto them like the originals do so I fabricated some hub cap clips that are longer than the originals and screwed them into the wheels. It took alot of experimenting but I finally got it. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 | Nice job.
Your air filter looks like an oil bath with a paper filter. Is that the case? If so, how did you do it and what filter are you using?
I have an extra oil bath filter and would like to do that.
TIA

I am curious, is the ID plate original ? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 68 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 68 | Thanks, Old Blue Truck, That is an oil bath air filter but is in original condition. What I think you see is the inside of the filter that I painted gray to match the engine color. Trucker nix, The ID plate is a repro. Being this is my first time ever to restore a vehicle I made some mistakes. The original ID plate was in almost as good condition but I got oven cleaner on it when I was removing the BLUE latex house paint from off the ENTIRE interior and it removed alot of the paint off the ID plate. There were sections in my truck that still had the original int. paint and the chevy duty paint is almost identical. | | |
