We had two treats in the last 24 hours (in case all you wondered why John didn't answer any text messages :D)
John is downstairs feeding the woodstove. I'm trying to finish at least ONE Gallery story for 1/1. A knock at the door. Gigi answers. I hear talking but don't recognize the voice. Then I hear John and keep typing. Then I hear, "Let's see if she knows ..." Of course, I'm thinking it's a Stovebolter passing thru.
Onto the sunporch comes a young man with John. I'm looking. The face is familiar and then wham! It was one of our young Marines from Hawaii. Haven't seen him in 17 years. He found us via the Internet and mostly Stovebolt. AAMOF, he said he spent the last two days reading stuff on the site (he was an airplane engine mechanic). So that was cool. Nice visit. He lives in ... wait for it ... wait for it ... King George! Well, his family does. He actually lives in OK City. But when he's back up for a visit, he'll be back. He may even try to make Homecoming.
Then the next great thing was today. Hambone and Sharky helped John move well over 50 seedlings out into the front area where Hambone and Sweet helped with the stumps. John's gotten more work done in these few days than he would have been able to in a month.
I think it's going to be a very good year.

So the other day I get a message from Mr. Friendship Forest himself saying that on Wednesday he will have a cool "toy" to play with. Now anyone who has ever been to the Milliman's farm know that anything and everything can and does stroll in from time to time just to say "hi" or stay a bit.
This mini excavator was neat. Took some time to get the hang of, but once you did, boy what a useful machine!
Had a blast as usual!!

They all had conjured up all kinds of projects to do. Apparently, the mini is okay to use on their places since it is on tracks compared to the backhoe which has tires. I know it would be fun for John to do -- maybe me, too since John said you don't have to operate anything with your feet. Of course, I am really not ambidextrous. I kinda max out with the ZTR. Ah, another retirement possibility.  He'll work more retired than he will the last 30 years. Peg
