I had springs axles and all brackets still on it. Each piece got rebuilt any way and it saved all kinds of time and effort. If you are planning on having the rolling chassis done, I would recommend Media Blasting. The Media that will be left behind is not as abrassive as sand. If you have your frame stripped down to no moving parts left, sand is sometimes a cheaper altenative. I have been painting my frame and all related parts with POR 15. You can paint it on with a brush. If it is cool where you are painting, you won't have any brush stokes at all. It self levels. Seems to be very durable. However, for the small pieces and threads, I would say that a couple of rattle cans of Zero Rust would be easier.

Then sandblasted, cleaned again hand sanded primed here in midwest we have salt, rust, grease, dirt, and regular cow s**t sticking to frame.
