Hey guys,

I posted in the Driveline forum about a chance to swap out your 5.14 HO72 pumpkin for a 4.10 pumpkin. Should I have put it here? As many articles as I have read about doing it, and how hard they are to find....I figured I'd have to beat'em off with a stick, but not a single response so far.

There is nothing in it for me. I approached a group that seems to want our 5.14 gears and proffered a one for one swap. I got more than one interested party and I only have one to swap. Trying to help out, I decided I would post here and try to hook the other one or two interested parties up with people on the other end. I will simply pass on the contact info to the interested people and they take it from there.

Given the fact that there is now a rear disc brake kit available for the HO72 DRW trucks, I thought I would get attacked for a chance to get in on this.

Any interest? E-mail or PM me.

Hi Larry -- If I'm following this correctly ... you are trying to hook guys up with swaps?

I have one (5.14) available if someone needs it. I already have a 4.10 one installed.

I'd make the swap if shipping is reasonable.
I also have a 5.14

Exactly!

I am trying to do a one for one swap on mine but found more than one interested party. This may take some time, but I will keep at it. I know how hard these are getting to find, so I want to help others if I can. I do need to get mine done first (is that wrong of me?) LOL

After that I will try to connect people to other people and then you guys can work out your details.

This will involve some trust....in my case I am going to ship mine to someone and he will ship his to me. (Fastenal) We trust people all the time when we buy used parts anyway, so should,t be an issue.

Again, I will have nothing to do with the details of anybody else's deal and I will get nothing out of it.

If you don't need a 4.10, then maybe we can find someone near you who does and you two can work something out for your 5.14?
Then they can swap someone on my "list".

The other option is to let them know I have a seller with one and get you some $$. Then maybe someone can buy their 4.10.

Let me know.

Again, Thanks Larry! This is cool and showcases the power for good of the Internet -- two groups of truck guys, each wanting the others' castoffs. One man's scrap metal is another man's prized upgrade!

A big Stovebolt Bravo Zulu to you for setting this up.

Thanks,
John

Chad,

I let the other group know there was a 5.14 available for purchase. We'll see if anybody steps up to the plate. PM me with your e-mail or phone number that you want them to use to contact you.

Let's please keep prices out of this discussion, save that detail for PM's.

This thread is sort of fuzzy already... Should be in swap meet but not quite, and not quite right for general forum either.
Keep it simple and it can stay here.

Thanks,
Grigg

Grigg is right. PM me with what you are asking.

Thanks Grigg.

Actually I'm amazed it hasn't come up already on one forum or the other. This whole "third party" thing is a bit odd I know.

Anybody else have an Eaton HO72 5.14 center section they want to sell or trade?

I have at least one guy right now that wants to buy one instead of trade. Get some cash for your trash, as they say.

PM me if interested.

Just an update, I may have found some Eaton 4.10 carriers for sale only. Guy claims to have quite a few. No trades. Not mine and I will pass along more info as I get it. No need to ask until I post back.

Merry Christmas.

John's and my trade deals are moving along. The 4.10 sets have arrived, I'll pick them up after Christmas. Then we'll send the 5.14 sets out in the same crate.

Keep that in mind if anyone is headed east, likewise if someone from here is going to HQ for a visit.

That's great. Glad to hear this is working out. The guy I hooked you two up with seems like good people.

BTW. I have someone wanting to buy just a set of 5.14 gears, no carrier. If you have a set or know someone, let me know please. I kinda feel bad. He was my trader, but balked at the shipping cost. In the mean time I decided to skip the Eaton and jump straight to the 14 bolt for several reasons. So, I offered to sell mine to him, but when I didn't hear back for several days, I sold them to someone else. The next day he popped back up and said he would buy mine. Geez. Isn't that always the way. Told him I would look for another for him. He has a 4.10 to trade, BUT, it is pretty rusty and 2 people have turned it down. I think it would be OK to run if a little noise would be ok with someone. I have pics if anyone wants to give them a look. My set was also a bit rusty, so if you have a 5.14 that is not so pretty, he might still be interested. I think he is working on a low budget like me.

Ok, there was some confusion on this one. From what I can tell, this turned out to be one 4.10 that he doesn't want to ship and a bunch of 4.56's. Sorry guys. Some us have better communication skills than others.

I have another that wants to trade 4.10 for 5.14. This one is in VA, so could be a good one to save some shipping cost.

Let me know if interested.

Ok guys, I started this thread, after I decided to work out a swap for my 5.14 chunk and get a 4.10. Well that kinda happened. I eventually just sold my gears and went to a 14 bolt with 4.10's. The whole thing caught on and before long I was helping others do it too. We managed to set up quite a few swaps and some people even bought and sold. Again, I got nothing out of it except a good feeling. Well, I am knee deep in my own truck and trying to find parts. The list of people has gotten to be quite a bit to manage, so I am bowing out. That being said, I am going to reveal the source of the 4.10's so you can persue it on your own still.

SO, if you still need to swap your 5.14's for 4.10's, just click over to this thread on the Pirate 4x4 page and let them know what you have and what you want. They are rock crawlers and hill clinbers and such and they want the low gears we want rid of.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/axle...-eaton-h072-5-14-trade-eaton-4-10-a.html

So there it is. Secret revealed!!! This is also a pretty good place for anyone looking for a Toyota steering box for a power steering install. I found one.

It has been fun, but just too much to keep track of for me now. I need more time to drive Grigg crazy. LOL. Hope he reads this.

Thanks, and I will still watch the thread and respond if someone wants to ask me something.

I made a similar post over on Pirate 4x4, so they will know where to come if they are hunting 5.14's.

Hey guys, I have talked to Larry and am going to try and step in as a liason here as well. I was the Va guy with the 4.10 third and that deal is still pending when we can get the third pulled from the truck.

In the mean time, I'm also interested in buying 5.14 thirds as well. And will find and sell / trade 4.10 thirds any time I come across them and will keep this thread up to speed.

My email address is blackwaterfabrication@gmail.com so if I haven't checked in around here for a while, feel free to give me a bump and say "hey! Found anything new?"

Thanks guys!
