Has anyone had luck installing the rubber around a crank out windshield? I destroyed 1 piece of rubber already. It was an a long strip, but i see I can buy a 1 piece rubber gasket also.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I've put a couple around the windshield of my 37 twice in the past 17 years. No problem. I think the 37/38 are the same. What do you think the problem is??....or at?

I had no problem installing the seal around mine. I have a new windshield frame and a new gasket.
Did you lubricate the gasket before inserting it into the frame?

The one I bought from Jim Carter was hard and inflexible. Gave up after a few days of fussing. Ordered another from Steeles Rubber Products that was great. It has a butt joint to fit and glue, but works fine. Steeles can give you the name of the proper 3M adhesive to use on the butt joint.

I did not lubricate the seal. I got it form a gasket dealer at a car show, & he sold it to me with 3M Adhesive. I was instructed to use the 3M in the channel, relief cut the corners and glue them with CA as well as the joint. One big mess later I gave up.
