It presently has a single Rochester and exhaust. Patrick's Antique have been very helpfull. Any one out there having dressed up their 261 having advice? They were very well-behaved carbs; however, I think they were "too small" for my engine. I did not get as much response as I hoped-for at cruising speed. Sweet uses two older/smaller Carter carburetors, I think. They seemed to be a good match for his 261. I now use a single Holley 94/AA-1 two-barrel Carburetor with adjustable jets (from a GMC 302 engine). This set-up seems to be pretty good - but it does not have the "eye-appeal" of dual carbs. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 385 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 385 | What about using two of the larger 32/36 carbs from tom L on the 261? Very smooth when taking off easy (most likely just one barrel of each carb being used); and, no hesitation but much more power when taking off fast (most likely the second barrel of each carb cutting in).
Gas mileage was good:
- up to 18 mpg at 55-60 mph ~ 2,100-2,300 rpm
- 12-14mpg at around 65 mph ~ 2500 rpm | | |
