I have a '55 1st series. Installed a 1962 261 engine with a 1985 5 speed transmission. The speedometer and cable are stock '55 1st series. The speedometer reads 35 MPH when actual speed is about 50 MPH. I heard there is an adapter that attaches to the transmission to give correct. Looking for input on where to buy a conversion part.

Junk yards await you. It fixed my problem.

Ask before buying what the ratio it is then figure out if it's enough to correct your odometer. Odometers are direct drive off the cable, speedometers use a magnetic drive and can be off, yet still have an accurate odometer. Most any speedometer shop will have you drive 10 miles on a marked road or use a GPS phone to check the accuracy of the odometer. They will then design an adapter to correct it and hopefully the speedometer will fall in to place to.
