I would like to convert the front brakes from drum to disk on my 66. truck is a 1966 GMC Fleetside, 351 V6, 2wd, manual 4 speed trans. | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 39 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 39 | I'm pretty sure the ball joints are larger than Chevy in that year model so Chevy spindles wouldn't work. Call Them up and ask. After all that's what they are in " bidness" for. I would think that the kit would have to be GMC specific. Good luck.

Power steering, disc brakes, bigger and better brakes in the rear, and it was almost too easy to do. Riding and guiding like I've got some sense now. | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 3 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 3 | Thanks for the input, looking at picking up an 82 Scottsdale 2wd. will probably do an engine trans conversion as well. | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 483 Unconventional Thinker | Unconventional Thinker Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 483 | If it were me, I would shy away from a kit. I just did this conversion on my '65 c20, and bought kits for the upgrade, and ended up not using an easy 90% of the kits. The kits either came with very low quality parts, or parts that didn't fit or wouldn't work period. I would recommend sourcing parts from a donor truck from the '73 to 87' range. You'll be much happier. You'll need to re-use your control arms, and have the ball joints pressed in the lowers, and replace the uppers with the bolt-in kind, then it's just swapping things out. It's worth it though. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll answer the best I can.
