Does anyone know if GM retained the "Build Card" information for the chassis number (VIN), engine number, and the original owner information for Advance Design Chevy Trucks? I have a 1952 Chevy Carryall and am curious if the motor is the original.

But I don't know how to find out - I have a 1930s plymouth and and Chrysler actually has all of that information available.

The vehicle serial number is between the hinges on the driver's side door opening in the cab.

Here are locations of engine codes. Find and post the block and head casting codes and the head casting codes. Also post the engine serial number.

That information will tell you series, year, and month of engine and cab.

Here are locations of various 1952 serial numbers.

There was no factory "build sheet". We look for codes that are from the same year, the correct model, with logical dates. That is as much "numbers matching" you might find.

I purchased an original owner truck from surviving family and you can see the way I was able to establish a numbers match and yes the original was still installed.
