I need to neutralize some surface rust inside the doors of my 64 C10 Ugly Truck.

I thought I read something here the other say about a chemical that someone had used that really worked.

I checked out several "rust" threads, but didn't find it. If this rings a bell with someone, could ya let me know what the product was?

Thanks,

Hello Ray,
It's good to find another Utah member here.

You can remove surface rust by applying navel jelly and scrubbing it with either a small wire brush or a scotchbrite type pad.

SEM makes two good rust converters if you choose to go that way they are "Rust seal" and "Rust mort" I have used rust mort on hard to reach areas and it seems to work well.

Most rust converters are based on phosphoric acid, which converts the rust into iron phosphate, which does not scale off like iron oxide.

I've used a product named , Skyco "Ospho". It's a phosphoric acid. Has worked real well, for me so far. Cost about $20, a gallon.

Thanks to all who helped out. I 'preciate it. It was Picklex that I was trying to remember. I just ordered some from autobodystore.com

Howdy, RustyOld. What part of Utah are you in? Oh, duh!!! I just saw the "Sandy" location. I hope we get a chance to cross paths at a cruise or something.

Did ya get to the Rat Fink Reunion in Manti last weekend? It was great. Here's a page with some pics (and of the "Ugly Truck Contest" that same weekend in Mr. Pleasant. I lost. frown

I didn't go to the Rat Fink Reunion. I didn't hear about it until it was all over.

I was at USVC yesterday looking for parts, no luck, but alot of fun looking around.

The only "crusing" my truck does right now is if I push it out in the driveway, it is only a cab on a bare rolling frame right now. Hopefully I'll have it on the road next spring.

Sorry to hear you lost in Mt. Pleasant...I'll keep my eyes open for the "ugly truck"
