Anyway when installing the alternator instructions said to open the wire loom in the engine bay, and run the supplied red 12 ga. wire from alternator to 12 ga. wire in loom. That went well. Next take the 20 ga. wire supplied and run from alternator to and tie in to the 20 ga. wire in the loom. I know the wire loom is original to the truck but my loom has a 20 ga. wire in stead of brown. Checked the service manual and it shows brown. The original generator wiring can be used to wire the new alternator, you just have to remove it from the generator voltage regulator and either splice it together in the case of the red output 12ga. or continue the field wire to wherever the alternators instructions say to attach it, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 15 | Sorry, installed alternator wire harness from Mad Enterprises and removed harness from generator. Have got it figured out just noted the wire harness on truck has one wire red instead of brown per shop manual wire diagram. Thought it odd as truck has original harness. | | |
