Just got this California rust free truck, no rust holes anywhere! All my shocks eye pins ,studs,(8 of them ) have no tread on the ends for the nuts,they all look the same,no tread on any of Them? So I gotta ask ,are they all broken off, or ???? Wish I could post a picture 4 ya , thanks guys , yep I"m a newbie

Seems impossible they would all be broken. Need pictures. If you post them somewhere else, tell us where or read the instructions on here. You feed them to a picture hosting site and link. How are they held on????? If there are no nuts??? Are you positive this is a 1959 Chevy truck frame? If it is, I believe all 8 shock eyes are held with studs/nuts. Leaf spring suspension on all four corners.

in my experience it's common that the threaded ends of those shock mount pins get twisted off when someone tries to get the shocks off .... just knock the swedged pins out and replace with good bolts - some new shocks even come with new bolts

Thanks guys, they must all be broken,thanks for the heads up on the shocks ,looks like a nother fix it job ,to add to the list , also will work on the picture thing later

I had one broken on my 59 Suburban, I drilled and tapped it for a 5/16 or 3/6 fine thread (don't remember which one) and put a grade 8 bolt in it with a Fender washer. It has been that way for the last 15 years as a daily driver.

Funny thing, my 1959 3100 had the exact thing- all shock mount studs were smooth.....no threads to secure the shocks. I don't think they were broken off either- the ends look designed that way and the old shocks were a bear to get off of them. The rubber bushings in the shock eyes had the studs in a pretty good bind...

ChuckC, I recently replaced the original shocks on my '59 and encountered the same thing. That must have been how the original ones were designed. While I'm more comfortable with the new hardware, which has nuts, the original's without nuts held the shocks just fine for almost 57 years.

Of all places, I found the shocks on Amazon.com. The Gabriel Classic series come with new hardware. Perfect fit and great improvement to ride and handling. Here are links:
