Looking for a source for the frame wiring clips that go from the front of the cab to the rear along the frame rail part# 52-925 1941-1959 GM trucks. Classic Parts shows them, but they have been on back order since 8/30/2015! Found out today that there supplier doesn't know when they will produce again! Any idea where else I could get these clips?

I checked out Rhode Island Wiring Service and YNZ and neither of them show them in their catalogs. You might want to consider those used on the Model A Fords as they are very similar to the frame rail clips used on our trucks. wiring frame clips

Restoration Specialties might have it - listed in their GM section.

My 1954 clips do/did not look like the one posted by Mike. Where/how did those clips attach to the frame?

Chevs of 40s - wire harness clips

Jim Carter probably has them - good luck searching for them.

Already checked with Jim Carter. They only have the under hood clips. Chevy's of the 40's has them, but the shipping is outrageous! I'll keep looking.

The clip you pictured goes through a hole in sheet metal and does not clip on the frame rail. I'll see if I can find one on my 1950 Chevy to photograph.

The ones I posted earlier are found on the frame rails to hold wiring in place. I guess it was cheaper to just drill the holes and stick these things in place. They are also found on Harrison Heaters to hold the wires in place.

What was left of the frame clips I pulled from my '49 were pushed through the holes in the frame. Not sheet metal. If you look at the part number from Classic Parts you'll see what I'm talking about.

Wiring Harness Clip-Frame

Tim what is the difference in them? I have taken hundreds of these things off trucks over the years and never noticed a difference between the frame, firewall and inner fenders. Good luck and let us know where you got the ones you are looking for.

I don't have access to it now, but I recall that the FAM had pictures of the different style of clips and where they were used including some that clipped onto the frame rail and not into a hole.

I appreciate all the input I have gotten from Tim, Mike and Deve concerning the frame rail wire harness clips. I could use another style clip, but I was trying to replace these with the same type of clips I removed. If all else fails, I guess I will just have to go that route.

Thank you for offering the frame rail clips. I found a set. It seems these clips were used from 1941-1965 on all GM truck and cars for the wiring harness that ran to the tail lamps. Had to purchase through a Corvette parts house. A little pricey but now I've got a set coming.

Tim, I have been following your progress with your rebuild one piece at a time with all of your different questions about specific correctness.
I am torn between,
1)Looking forward to seeing pictures of it when you are done.
2)Not looking forward to seeing pictures of it, lest it makes me sick because it will be too much for me to live up to with my rebuild.
I guess I will have to deal with it one way or the other.

I really appreciate the words of encouragement! I will tell you this....My '49 is not completely correct as it was delivered in 1949, but I am doing my best to get it there. I'm sure a lot is not correct, but I'm pleased with it so far. When I get it completed I will send you photos. Just keep in mind we all "put lipstick on a pig" to make it look good when we have limited information from 65+ years ago.
