Boy is it nice. Maybe too nice. I had not planned on replacing all of the upper molding, but now I have a clash. Shiney v.s. dull. Does anyone have information about restoring polished aluminum trim? It seems as though there is a surface finish that needs to be stripped? Better yet, anyone know of a place that does that type of work? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | The surface finish you are seeing is aluminum oxide, which is much harder than unoxidized aluminum and almost impossible to mechanically polish. There are chemicals you can buy that convert aluminum oxide back to metallic aluminum. This page has some good tips for polishing all kinds of metals.
