Sanding, sanding, sanding.

I did get the front bumper back from the chrome shop. Cost me a couple of pennies. But, finding a triple plating business in Southern California is about as easy as finding a Suburban rear fender or rear window trim. If I remember correctly, my chrome shop owner says that it costs him $50,000 a year for his copper tank permit. It also took him a little longer than he estimated, but I was warned about that. Well worth the wait!! It turned out beautiful! I'll get some pictures up here eventually!

No more sanding. Time for tape! Too hot to paint this weekend. But the temps should be good next weekend!

I lied. I found more stuff to sand and smooth. It didn't seem right that I would only do the roof and bring it down to the belt line. Those sides and quarters started talking to me. So now I'm sanding both quarters and the passenger rear fender. I won't even waste my time on the drivers rear fender. AND, I have 2, maybe 3 weeks maximum to get this all done.

When I do get done with this latest phase, the suburban will be in SPI Epoxy Primer from the passenger doors on back. I'll still need to find a drivers rear fender and I'll still need to repair the lower back corners as they have the usual rot.

As always, pics will follow.

That is a bicycle fender roller. A few years back, when money was tight, I got in to restoring old Schwinn balloon tire bikes. Hence the http://www.bunchobikes.com web site. These days I use it for multiple purposes. In fact, I'm thinking of making a narrow (1/4" wide) wheel to roll out the dents in my window trim.

New relay for the radiator fan with better wiring. Also, connected it to a thermal switch. We'll see how that works out today.

Sway bar installed. Pictures will follow. Just with the short drive home from work, I could feel a difference.

After next weekends show, I will make extra upper frame braces and remove the assembly for paint.

Next projects? Maybe "H" pipe the exhaust. Move the tail pipe exit to the rear of the vehicle. I still need to do AC, replace the left front fender brace. Maybe lower it a little, front and rear. Narrow the a arms? Continue with the front half of grind/beat/fill/primer. Work on some exterior patch panels. I should have some rear window trim in the mail, chrome those and install. Rebuild engine. Install a stronger radiator fan.

I'm getting dizzy just trying to come up with a list.

Also, leave it in black epoxy primer? Or paint it green?

..thanks for the pics. Some nice work your doing.

......If you can stand it, after all your already dirty, I'd go ahead and bite the bullet and paint it now. You'll be glad you did a little later on. (I'm good at spending other peoples money and telling them what to do) hehe

Oh, I like the way you set up your sway bar. Keep us posted later on how it works out for you.

Chassis Engineering bar, made for the truck. I tried to see if I could get it to work the way they designed it. But there is just too much going on with the tank and all.

Yep. Paint will be a debate.

I have a pair of rear fenders coming my way. Hopefully they are in better shape than what I have now.

Thanks for the compliments, Alvin!!

Mark, the sway bar made a world of difference in my Panel. Glad you have on or you'd think the top of the suburban weighed a 1000 lbs itself. Gld its working out.

Mark, I'm getting a little jealous. I've said it before, I wish I had found a suburban to haul the grandkids in so they could "see out" rather than the panel. Your doing a real good job. (want to trade?).... (yeah, I know, your laughing!)

While I'm waiting for the epoxy to induce for fender #2, let me show you fender #1. No more exhaust hole, some solvent pop that was corrected, and then mounted on the Burb. I decided against the fender welt and and installed an insulating pad between the fender and the body.
