The cab on my 48' is all rusted out, so I thought a good fix would be to swap the cab for a less rusted or rust free cab. My question is, are the cabs different for the different size trucks, like 1/2 ton and 2 ton? | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | No, same size.
One difference is 48 model has a center rear cab mount. The later cabs have one mount each side of the frame at the rear of the cab. This is not a problem at all, but you may need to drill 4 holes in the frame to use the later type (better) mount system.
Another advantage to using a later cab is the gas tank will be in the cab, so with your original you'd have two tanks, twice the range.
