I've painted a couple of cars (OK, 1 twice) several years ago. I used PPG Acrylic Lacquer. I was thinking of doing the same with the truck, but seems PPG doesn't have that anymore. At least I couldn't see it at their site. I'm looking for something I can do myself without a fresh air system, if that's doable. I have the mask with 2 filters from the last job. What are you guys using?

If you don’t want to use a fresh are supply mask use the ppg or Dupont paints that do not contain isocyanates. most paints on the market today are iso free but you should still were a mask with a pre-filter and a charcoal filter

Dusty, I don't know of a single ISO free paint or clear on the market right now. There have been ones almost every company has tried, but they have all dropped them as far as I know. ANYTHING with a hardener outside of epoxies and primers that specifically say ISO FREE on them are going to have ISOs.

I am sure that Sikkens, Glasuit or some one of the other European brands has something available. And the big boys like PPG and the like are trying once again to offer one, but as of right now I know of none.

For the home hobbiest that is doing a paint job now and then, first of all I say invest the $400.00 or so and get a "Hobby air" available at autobodystore.com. But if you are NOT going to do that study the use of the charcoal resperator and you will find that the OSHA requirments for the fresh air system have much to do with the proper use of the charcoal mask, not whether it filters out ISOs or not. DO YOUR HOME WORK

Well, yeah. I'm about talked into a fresh air system. Problem is I'm just trying to get a pair of rear fenders in primer state so I can get them back on the truck. I'm thinking I can prime with a sealer to keep the moisture out then work other areas from time to time the same way. By next summer I should be ready to reprime and top coat. I was thinking today of maybe just having a local shop prime/seal the fenders and get them pupies back on!

dupont carrys a number of iso free paints and under costs these include
Iso free under coats are 615S/616S & 2500S series sealer. Productive
products are 4000S series and 4904S and 4910S, 4940S, 4970S

Does DuPont offer an ISO free paint line? The ones you posted are undercoats. The strange thing is DuPont doesn't have the ISO free in the name of these primers and sealers, strange. How do you know they are ISO free? The DuPont web site is not up to par with others and doesn't have an MSDS catalog on it.

Yes it is made Judd, it is still in my Sherwin Williams price sheets. If you are in a VOC regulated area, you can forget it. If you are in the "national rule" for VOC it is legal for use on a vehicle that was originally painted in lacquer. If can be found though I am sure it is getting harder by the minute.

iso free single stage is the Cronar product. The iso free clear is
1780S. Basecoats do not have iso's in them unless you add the 12305S which
is not necessary in the Chromabase system. Product sheets and information

OK. I ordered a FinishLine II today and Hobby Air unit tomorrow. So now I need to decide which paint system would be best. This is a driver not a show truck. I'm also thinking I want a solid color, not metalic. Any suggestions? Oh, and I'll be painting in the garage. Plan is to fix/primer-sealer area by area until next summer then reprime and finish it.

first of all is your garage attached to the house
second is there any open flames I.e. gas furnish or water heater if so dont even think about paintting in your garage
