A 3.5" branch that I have no idea where it came from, must have been very, very high, I'm pretty diligent about checking for potential dangers, I actually looked yesterday, but I guess I missed this one.
A direct hit, passenger's windscreen, channel, cowl, dash and defroster diverter trim piece. That's all I noticed for now, there must be some collateral damage else where, unless it took a lucky bounce (it was also about 15-16' long), but I was getting sick just looking at it, not to mention wet and cold. I'm no bodyman, but looks to me like it needs to be replaced.
Body is... was in very, very good condition, but have been looking for an engine. So of course I had no insurance.
So before I have a bodyman do a house call, if that's even possible. I thought I would start tracking down parts.
Finally my question, I'm working on a '48 2 ton, are all the body parts just a little bigger? Is the glass bigger? Can I use anything from pick-ups or only 1.5 & 2 tons?
While we're on the subject, what about the engines, (pick-up v. big bolt) are there any differences I should be aware of on the truck 235, '47-'62 other than the obvious W/P, M/M etc.?
I know that was long, but if you made it this far, thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to pass along.

Glass is easy, flat cut from your local auto glass place. The rest of the parts mentioned are standard for all '47 - '53 cabs. The front clip is the difference in the big bolts. Fenders, inner fenders etc, because of the bigger tires. | | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,715 62401 | | 62401 Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,715 | D -- Jim is correct -- Cabs interchange with the pickups, just be aware that the cab mounts are different '49 and later. Also, in '49, the gas tank came inside the cab so as has been observed in a different thread, if you use a later cab on a '48 chassis, you could have two fuel tanks On the engines, after '53 ('54 and up), the I-6 engines (235's, 261's, etc) have longer water pumps (and mounted lower). If you use a later engine, you will have to modify it to use an earlier water pump (not hard) or move the radiator forward. You might also have cooling issues, depending on how you use your truck. For other differences, check out the Advance Design spotting guide in the Tech Tips (Menu is at the top of the page). Good luck, John
