Even if you could, it is much easier to do it with the switch removed.

I've had mine out many times and have not had to pull the ignition housing.

But I don't have a radio or speaker
I do have an electric wiper , but its not n the way.

I remove the speaker grill to get my hand back there
and the choke cable.

I also added some 10/32 knurled nuts, a recommendation found on this forum

Don't have to mess with any sockets or extensions

Best under dash tip of the century, right there.
If those nuts cost $10.00 each, I would still use them!

Since my glove box crumbled to dust. I just reach in to remove the "grill" part. Then the speedo is right there. Same as Dads50. Use a nut driver and pull the battery. Easy. I do like them nuts, and they are at the local hardware store. Good tip. Undo the battery. Just a simple thing, with peace of mind.

Always a safe thing to do. I also agree with those nuts.

Been laid up so just getting back. I have a grill and speakers and radio so I will remove the switch and go from there when I can get back to working on the truck. Hope to get back on it in about 1 month. Thanks for the help. root
