I've bought parts from them for many years and am a satisfied customer, but I'm curious about the quality and ease of installation of these kits. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Pretty average fit. Corners didn't look to well done. Kind of a pain to install and make it look professionally done. You might look into a local upholsterer, they can usually do it for dang near the same price and it will look and feel right. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/seat dg

The JC kit is actually inadequate. Without a piece of coir or a heavy piece of carpet, the coils will caress your rump.
See if you can find a local uphosterer. I had a hard time finding one who would talk with me. I eventually found an older fellow in a small town/village nearby. He did an excellent job. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2015 Posts: 23 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2015 Posts: 23 | Have a two piece seat, took to a local upholster to have a more custom look beside the one color seat cover JC offers, not to much more than it would cost to order n ship.........I think it will be well worth the cost (he's been doing upholstery for 36 yrs). Will be done in bout a week, will post pics after. BJ

You can buy it without the kit, takes 4 or 5 yards. I have done two complete seats that way and both times the upholsterer commented on the high quality of the material. SMS's Old Truck fabric is far superior to Carter's in both original appearance and thickness of the material. After reading all the comments I think I'll go the way of an upholstery shop instead of DIY. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,749 | We did the DIY on the 52 seat. The wife made very nice cloth and vinyl seat. Comfy and it looked good. The center of the back and the seat is vinyl(that is where I put stuff) the sitting area is cloth. So nice on both hot and cold days. Brown cloth and a maroon vinyl. Snazzy! Expensive "outdoor" rated material. The corners fit very well(her skills not mine). one year later...she hates the seat. Sun faded and headed towards grey. The vinyl is perfect. When we do it again....professional will be the way.
