I now have two 1940 1/2 tons ( I'm so proud) takin up space in my shop and I'm trying to sort out the various box panel and tailgates and front panels and don't seem to be coming up with anything consitant. I had some info form a fella on the forums with some pics and measurments but lost it and him in the big crash of '03. I have a pair of 3/4 ton box sides but am building a 1/2 ton truck. Lots of running boards but they seem to be all a different length. Can any one share pics and specific measurements with me? I would like to just get my box sides bend for these two trucks with out having to mail order in a box or parts. Get i touch with me directly if you want and share what you can........I think the last fella who got some info to me was Brian ???? Sorry, now I realize what that computer guy meant when he said "only God Saves". They are the same from '40-'46. The front panel should be 48-1/2" wide and the tailgate a hair narrower at 48-1/4". Anything wider is later than '46, anything narrower is '39 or older. I have collection of parts that I am trying to sort out and come up with a proper set of measurements to build a set of box sides and front panel. I understand that the front panel should be 48.5" wide ( the "new" one I have is only 47") so that shouldn't be a problem to have bent up. I have two sets of box sides ( one set is 88" long with three stake pockets per side, the other is the right length , but looks like a set of 47-55 fender bolt holes ) The fender holes line up on the 88" ones( two sets about 3" apart as apparently the Sask. farmers used to raise thier fenders for???)so it will be a good match for height but I am wondering about the axle notch and its height up from the bottom of the panel and where it begins front and rear? I also have a tailgate in great shape except it is 49.75" long so I figure it for a 47-55 truck.
