It hasnt been driven in 15 years, and im currently doing the restoration on it. I have no idea if it still has the 4.88 gears or not it came with. the motor is a 1958 235ci tied to a 4speed. Any idea how fast I will be able to go?

If it is the original gears 50 to 60 range is to be expected. That is keeping the engine in a comfortable rev range.

An original 1950 3600 supposedly came with a 4.57 rear-end. Is yours original.

As Martin posted, for either 4.57 or 4.88, 50-60 MPH (60 would be noisy, probably).

I have read that center sections on 3/4 ton would interchange up through 1972. If this is so then a pumpkin from a later model with big block and automatic should be in the 3's. 60mph should be real comfortable with these. If heavy hauling or trailer pulling is on the menu then the stock gears are better.

Yo won't find anything in the 3s. 4.10 is about as good as it gets, with 4.57 and 5.13 being the only other options.

Remember that these 3600's were available with everything from
15 inch rims to 17.5 rims. the tire diameter will make a big difference in your top speed. My truck came with 15 inch split rims.
