Eastwood has a sale on their do-it-yourself powder coating system. Are these worth the money ($99, regular $129)?

Comments please.

Paul-have you checked out Larry Kephart's (LAROKE'S) website, "In the garage with Billybob?" I believe he got his setup from Eastwood and goes into detail about it there. His link is on the bottom of his posts or in his user profile. Hope this helps.

I have one and use it all the time. It works great. I did buy the high performance spray tips. They made a big difference. Joe

I also use it all the time and love it! Can make a hero out of you...

with one exception- the color "almost chrome". I have not been successful after trying many combos in making this work.

Every other color I have tried works great.

I'm also with you guys on the almost chrome. I found it looks great with no clear cote, but doesn't last that way. It takes on kind of a smoke tint with the clear. Every thing else is great. Joe H, did you use the regular tips before you used the hipo tips?

I agree, before baking it the second time with clear, it looks great. Unfortunately it is nothing we did wrong. The Eastwood Co is located 15 min away so I decided to visit. The co rep claimed there is no solution. My solution? baked the part "almost chrome" then shot it with automotive clear. Kind of defeats the purpose though.

This is minor, don't mean to harp, the rest of the colors work great and the process is easy. My problem is I am always lookin for a bigger oven. grin

Fatboy63k10,,,, I still don't have an oven. I had a line on a used pizza oven but by the time I got there it was gone. I will get an oven in the next few months. Right now I am using Eastwoods infared heat lamp. It works but sometimes is slow if the part is big.

hey rat, I used a large toaster oven from Walmart (went to 350') for a long time... worked great for small parts. brackets, pulleys etc... The 2nd was an electric kitchen oven... now I'm using a 4' square oven I bought used from a commercial food service supplier. I still whip out the toaster oven for something small.

Mine is a old kitchen oven with a 30' power cord. I can move it out of the garage so it don't stink up the house. Joe
