Mine has a big bow in it like someone got hung up on a tree stump and gave it the gas. Is the steering that critical you could possibly bend it back or just trash it? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | tie rod? If it is just a bow, trying bending it back. Then, reset the toe-in. Or, post a Want Ad for a used tie rod, or buy a new replacement. | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 37 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 37 | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | Ive straightened several of them. You will need to remove it & put it in a press. Often a tow truck operator will get a J hook around it instead of the axle. Sometimes a guy will put a jack under the axle to raise the truck & catch it. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | Easy to straighten without worries.
