'49 3100 with after market turn signal..Indicator light on unit started staying on all the time..Blinkers, brakes,flasher, headlights all work properly..Replaced unit with new one..Same problem..Any ideas?

Do you have the wiring diagrams for the aftermarket indicator, it is hard to troubleshoot not knowing how it is wired.

Your flasher may be the problem. One terminal "P" on a 3 terminal flasher is for the pilot (indicator) light.

Check to see if a short on something is grounding through the indicator light

I just had this problem and it was a bad flasher. There is nowhere in the wiring that a short or bad connection can cause this problem

Had to replace the dead flasher on my after-market signal unit within two months after installing. Another bonus of replacing the junk flasher with a decent HD unit like (Advance Auto/Novita EL13/$15.00) is a nice loud “Tick Tock” that is more like original.
