What is the going rate for a good body man? When I say good, I mean someone that has a knack for welding and can do a reasonable amount of metal work where little filler is needed. I've heard rates ranging from $25/hr to $75/hr + materials. I have my doors with a guy that is known for good work around here (2 hr drive) and he charges $35/hr+ and works out of a pretty nice shop in his back 40. I'm meeting with another guy only a couple miles away (
www.paintwerks.com) on Friday to talk about what he may or may not be able to do for me. It looks like he is capable of doing great work and says he can work to whatever level I want him to. My biggest hurdle so I don't get in too far with the costs will be to remember that it is just an old farm truck and I want to drive it in the end. Depending on where it goes, I may give him all my body work and I'll keep working the mechanicals. What do you think?

p.s. I can't weld worth a darn. I have all the patience in the world when doing pre-paint body work (minor filler and sanding) but have no place to actually paint. I've done a lot of the smaller parts already and plan to do everything under the body (frame, etc...) myself.
