I have a Zenith 11475B on my 57 GMC stock 270.
I have had the truck for 11 years and have never done anything to the carb accept some minor adjustments.
Due to failing eyesight and a knack for losing small parts, I want to send it to someone to have it professionally rebuilt.
I found Carbs Unlimited at Carburetion.com and Nationalcarburetors.com Both say they can rebuild my carb.
Does anyone have any experience with either place?
Also, my carb has an adjustable main jet. Should I eliminate that, and if so, what size jet should it have?

Larry can work with the adjustable main jet or he can set you up with a jet size that he thinks might match your engine/etc.

There is a member here "carbking". I did not know of him or his business. I had bought a rebuild kit from my FLAPS. When taking the carb apart I saw a small bent spring steel piece left on the rebuilding tray.

There was so much dirt on the carb that when I took off the idle speed screw it was not seen by me. Normally that part would of been seen and would of came of as the screw was removed.

Any way he responded to my thread and he knew what that part was by my description and measurements and told me what it was and I was not even a customer.

If tclederman recommends someone then they must be good too. So contact both and see.

http://carbcoinc.com/ in St Louis does a complete rebuild, bushing & all and will advice you of any vacuum pull offs or solenoids that should be replaced. He also runs all his rebuilt carbs on a engine before the customer gets them back. I watched him run on the engine & adjust it everything for me...joe

Zenith 11475B is an aftermarket replacement carb, and the adjustable main jet is an integral part of the calibration. Do not replace it on this carburetor.

And 32vid - thanks for the recommendation, but carbking is too busy in the manufacture of kits to rebuild carbs. Have not done one in almost 4 years. The kit business keeps me busy.

But if it were my own carb, and I didn't wish to do it myself, I would send it to Classic Carbs in Phoenix, AZ. Of all those mentioned in this thread, they are probably the most expensive; but I have seen the work of most mentioned, and Classic is THE best! If you send it to Classic, be prepared for a LONG wait. I am not the only one that thinks they are the best.

I went with Larry Isgro as recommended by tclederman.
I called and spoke with him on the phone. Really nice guy. When I asked about payment, he told me I could pay after I got the carb back. I knew then he was an honest business man.
I sent him the carb and a check on a Friday. Got it back on Monday 10 days later. The carb looks brand new.
I installed it and after turning the engine over a few times it fired right up. Later starts were immediate.
I highly recommend Larry Isgro due to quality of work, turnaround time, and cost. Rebuild cost for my carb was 165 + 15 shipping. $180.00 well spent.
